Cricket for deaf pupils – Surrey

Posted in News

Surrey Cricket Foundation has been given funding by Lambeth council to run a 6-month pilot cricket programme aimed at Deaf/Hearing students, which they are looking to start before March. Gavin Reynolds, Cricket Participation Officer, says: “We are looking to run a 20 week pilot programme that involves a regular cricket session, this could be something during the daytime or an afterschool club. We would look to target the age groups of children between 11-18 years old for the pilot. Although would also be happy with children from year groups 5 & 6 in primary school if they were keen to get involved. We would then look to encourage them to potentially link in with a number of other projects that are running around London and other areas if they enjoyed their cricket.

We shall be running a workshop and practical signing session at the Kia Oval, Kennington, London, SE11 5SS on Wednesday 5th December -10am – 3.30pm. Agenda attached.

Is there anyone from a service or school who may wish to come along and discuss some of the matters on the day, even if it’s just for a morning or something. It would be very nice to have some input/personal experiences.

We would like to hear from anyone that is positive and open to speaking and can contact me on email or call on the numbers below.

Kind regards,

Gavin Reynolds
