Mental Health Awareness Week takes place this week (Monday 18 to Sunday 24 May 2020).
Throughout this week BATOD will aim to highlight some Mental Health Awareness themed articles and resources from our magazines and archives.
Today we share Richard Ogden’s BATOD article ‘Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire‘ in which he describes how access to mental health is improved for children and young people by translating the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) into BSL. Richard Ogden is a professor of linguistics at the University of York. While his primary research interest is in conversation analysis and phonetics, he has an interest in sign languages and gesture. He has been part of a wider team involved in translating the the SDQ and another diagnostic tool into BSL.
