MSI course 2022-23

Posted in News

An update from Dr Heather Murdoch:

I’m writing on behalf of the course team to provide an update on future plans for the MSI course

As you may already know, the School of Education at the University of Birmingham has taken the difficult decision to suspend the following programmes for academic year 2021/22.

•            MEd Education of Learners with Multi-Sensory Impairment

•            PGDip Education of Learners with Multi-Sensory Impairment

•            PGDip Teach Children and Young People with Multi-Sensory Impairment (Mandatory Qualification)

•            PGCert Education of Learners with Multi-Sensory Impairment

•            Advanced Certificate in the Education of Learners with Multi-Sensory Impairment

The School of Education at the University of Birmingham remains absolutely committed to the sensory impairment field. It is our intention to reactivate postgraduate study, including a mandatory award in multi-sensory impairment, in the academic year 2022/23.

We have been consulting with both the DfE and NatSIP to reconfigure our offer and, subject to relevant approvals, we are planning to open new programmes for recruitment in October 2021.

It’s good to have the clarification. Please can you pass on the information to anyone interested, especially those working on future school/service development and training plans.
