We have received the following request for support with a survey for deaf pupils:
I am a second year deaf student from Newcastle studying at Lancaster University. I am currently doing research for my final year dissertation and investigating the support received by deaf and hearing-impaired pupils at secondary school. This includes academic support, and also the support they receive for any extra-curricular and social activities either in or outside of school.
I am hoping to see if there are regional differences in the levels of support received and to understand more about support out of the classroom. I am also trying to gather examples of what makes a good or poor experience and there is a free text box on the survey to share any other thoughts or experiences such as learning during Covid-19.
The survey is relevant to anyone with a hearing loss in secondary school in England, and can be completed either by the student themselves or by their parent/guardian. It should only take about 5 minutes to complete, and all the results are completely confidential and anonymous, and will be used for academic purposes only.
If you are willing to share the survey with your network or have any questions, it would be really helpful if you could let me know. The survey closes on 15th September.
